The Harwich Festival is organising events on Sunday 5th June 2022 to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on behalf of Harwich Town Council.

The format for the day is based on ‘The Big Lunch’ idea, first introduced by The Eden Project, where communities are encouraged to come together through shared food and experience. In addition Harwich Festival wanted to encourage community involvement leading up to the event, a legacy of greater Community cohesion from the event as well as a great day.

For this purpose Harwich Festival has organised the following in Cliff Park and The Park Pavilion on June 5th:
  1. A Flower Show featuring 14 separate categories for people of all ages to enter. This is the first of its kind in our town since the Queen’s Coronation celebrations.
  2. A Social History Exhibition featuring local events, pastimes and everyday life over the last 70 years. This will include special Pathe News showreels featuring the Coronation and Royal visits.
  3. Music and dance at the Bandstand plus a 70 years evening disco in the Flower Marquee.
  4. Food and drink outlets in Cliff Park and the Park Pavilion including a Tea Tent and a Beer Tent.
  5. Sports and Children’s activities in Cliff Park plus stalls from local interest groups.
