Harwich museum and the Lighthouse Tea Bar will reopen next week after its winter break.
The museum will reopen Wednesday February, 21 with new exhibits on ancient history, local hero Captain Fryatt, local railways, and 100 years of the Train Ferries.
The popular Hi-de-Hi! and Kindertransport displays will also remain in place.
A new art gallery will be exhibiting the works of local artists and “numerous events and presentations” are planned throughout the year.
Tony Tarran, trustee of Harwich Museum, said: “Our dedicated and enthusiastic group of volunteers have worked tirelessly on the displays and other improvements to ensure that the museum is ready to reopen on time and looking its best.
“We look forward to welcoming all our customers to the museum this year to enjoy our rich local history and to the numerous events and presentations that will take place.”
The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday every week between 10am and 4pm.
