Surrender100 Commemoration
A community event remembering the 168 German U Boats that surrendered off the Harwich coast. Watch the community parade of flags representing each boat lead towards a large atmospheric willow U Boat on the beach, with atmospheric spoken commemoration in the setting sun, right next to the water where it happened 100 years ago.
Continue the afternoon with themed food and music from Harwich Brass Band in the Harwich Sailing Club, with artefacts and photographs of the surrender on display.
Did you design a flag? Why not join the parade, or find out more about your U Boat on the day?
