The restoration work at Harwich’s Electric Palace Cinema is now well underway after a delayed start and a few hold-ups.
The main part of the work is to inspect and stabilise the 107 year-old fibrous plaster ceiling, which means that the roof needs to be removed.

The scaffolding should be up by the middle of December, and the roof stripped by Christmas, meaning the plasterwork can begin in the new year.

If the project goes ahead smoothly the cinema should be able to open once again by the end of June 2019.
