Harwich Runners and the Rotary Club of Harwich and Dovercourt are sad to announce the postponement of the Mayflower 400 Harwich Half Marathon, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday 5th April 2020.
Along with the rest of the UK, we have been closely monitoring the escalating Coronavirus situation. At a time of such uncertainty and worry, we feel that it is only right that we do not go ahead.
The Harwich Half Marathon is now proposed to take place on Sunday 11th April 2021.
The event has been in planning for 18 months, and so this decision has not been taken lightly, but given the developing unprecedented situation around Coronavirus it is felt that as race organisers we are left with no choice but to act with the best interests of all the runners, volunteers, organisers and spectators.
Information for runners
All entires will be automatically carried over to the following year. The entry limit of 1,100 will be lifted allowing more people to enter the race next year. The existing runner transfer process will remain open.
Every runner who has a place in the Mayflower 400 Harwich Half Marathon will be able to use their place in the rescheduled event on Sunday 11th April 2021 without taking any further action.
As all profits from the Mayflower 400 Harwich Half Marathon are being put back in to the local community via the Harwich Runners and the Rotary Club of Harwich and Dovercourt, a decision has been taken to reuse the memorabilia for the rescheduled event on Sunday 11th April 2021.
All runners that choose not to take part (or are unable to do so) in the rescheduled event on Sunday 11th April 2021 may receive their race medal and t-shirt that has been purchased for all entrants – more details on how you can arrange to collect your items will be provided at a later date. Please note, upon collection you will be removed from the entrants list for the rescheduled event on Sunday 11th April 2021.
We hope you understand this difficult decision, thank you for your continued support and we look forward to welcoming you to our rescheduled event.
